ALFRED BURRELL EAVES (William H, Burrell, Bartlett, Graves William) was born February 1852 in Texas (census), probably in San Augustine County; died 28 Jan 1923 at age 71 in Vernon Parish, La. He married SARAH TENNESSEE ALEXANDER 20 Oct 1872 in San Augustine County. She was born in March 1855 in Texas (1900 census). A.B. Eaves was taxed in Shelby County, Texas on miscellaneous property valued at $25 in 1873; one horse or mule in 1875; a poll tax only in 1876; and 160 acres of land 1877-1880. The family apparently moved from Texas to Louisiana after 1886 when the youngest son was born, although I have found no record that Alfred Burrell Eaves ever owned any land in Vernon Parish, La. He and his family were enumerated 20 Jun 1900 in Vernon Parish, Census. . . According to that census, Alfred and Tennessee had been married 28 years. Tennessee ad borne seven children and five of them were living in 1900. Alfred had been unemployed for two months of the previous year. The family was living in a rented house and everyone in the household could read and write.
