Joe John Zajicek Sr., 87, of Granger, Tx, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023. Joe was born in Granger, Tx on October 20, 1935 to the late Joe P. Zajicek & Sybil Zurovetz Mitchell. Joe joined the Marine Corp from February of 1953 to February of 1956. Joe married the late Beverly Zajicek on June 7, 1969; they would have been married for 54 years. Joe worked as a sign builder for Modern Signs for 40+ years. Joe enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, gardening and drinking cold beer. Joe was also actively involved in family functions and being very family oriented. His perfect day was sitting on his back porch and telling his stories to his family and friends regardless if it was true or not. Joe is survived by his children Joe Zajicek Jr (Cindy), Ricky Cooper (Debbie), Bobby Cooper (JeanAnn), Diana Burkhardt (Lawrence), Shari Holly & Tami Jo Urbanek, siblings Georgia Kalmbach (Alton), Barbara Ann Brown (Bill) & Carolyn Hodnett (Mickey), Scotty Mitchell (Brenda), 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren & numerous nieces and nephews, and all the other kids that came along the way. Joe is preceded in death by his wife Beverly Zajicek, parents Joe P. Zajicek & Sybil Zurovetz Mitchell, daughter Jean Ann Falkenburg, son in laws Mike Holly & Andy Urbanek. A visitation for Joe will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Condra Funeral Home, Taylor, Texas. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 10:00 AM at Macedonia Cemetery, Granger, TX. Honorary pallbearers are Lawrence Yeager, Brandon Juergens, Todd Knutson, Danny Miller, Brandon Falkenburg. Aiden Zajicek, Rick Willis, Mike Holly Jr., Bubba Burkhardt, Justin Burkhardt, Larry Kalmbach, Ken Brown and Terry Laney will serve as pallbearers. The family of Joe John Zajicek Sr. wishes to thank Dignity/Condra Funeral Home, Williamson County Sheriff's Dept, Danny Miller, Kenny Cervenka, Steven "Pickle" Vrabel, Grant Steglich, Rodney Pavel & Bubba Calvin for preparing the luncheon.
