NEIL HORLACHER Neil Peter "Pete" Horlacher passed away peacefully Monday, January 21, 2019, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Pete was born in Ely, January 4, 1933, to Harry "Butch" Horlacher and Susan Christiansen Horlacher. His family moved to Toole, Utah, for several years followed by a move to Pioche, where he spent the remainder of his youth. He attended Lincoln County High School, where he was an outstanding athlete in baseball and football and played trombone in the band. After attending Brigham Young University for two years, Pete married his high school sweetheart and eternal companion, Delores Wadsworth, in the St. George Temple, June 12, 1953. Pete considered this his greatest accomplishment in life. Together they had six children and eventually settled in Las Vegas, where Pete was a successful stucco contractor for more than 20 years. In 1994, they retired to Panaca, and their home became a frequent site for family gatherings and reunions. Pete's backyard in Panaca included rope swings and a zip-line which were enjoyed by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several generations of kids in the town. He enjoyed restoring several Farmall tractors that he drove in many parades in Panaca and Pioche. He may be best known for his loving care to his wife Delores, who suffered from Multiple Sclerosis and was unable to walk for the last 30 years of their lives together. Prior to her death in 2016, the care provided to Delores by Pete was an example to all of unwavering devotion and enduring love. Pete was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many church positions, including: Bishop of the Las Vegas 16th Ward, serving a mission with Delores to the Church Geological Center, and most recently, as a temple worker in the Cedar City temple. Pete was preceded in death by his wife Delores; his parents; and brothers, Kenneth and Robert "Bob." He is survived by his children Mark, Kent (Hanah), Lisa, Susan, Glen (Kellee), Wayne (Mary) and foster daughter, Lillie Blackmountain Mexican; as well as his siblings, Ronald (Audrey), Thomas (Helga), Jane (Tom), Mary (Bob), Michael and Dorothy (Steve.) He will also be missed by his 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Fri., Jan. 25. An additional visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Sat., Jan. 26, with services following, all at The Panaca LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 1065 Main St., Panaca, NV 89042. Burial will be in the Panaca Cemetery under the direction of Southern Nevada Mortuary. Online condolences can be made at www.snmortuary.com
