Mrs. Melinda E. Luchsinger, 86, of 1810 8th Street, died Sunday evening at Behlen Memorial Hospital. She had been in poor health the past several years. Funeral services, with Rev. H. M. Rathkamp officiating, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, and burial will be in Columbus Cemetery. The body is to lie in state from 1 p.m. Tuesday until noon Wednesday at Gass-Haney Funeral Home, then at the church from 1 p.m. to the time of service. The daughter of John and Leanna Ewalt Schmoll, she was born June 2, 1884, at Pleasant Hill, Mo., and received her education there. She was married to Frank Luchsinger, March 7, 1912, at Harrisonville, Mo., and they lived on the family farm northeast of Columbus. She moved to Columbus in 1918 following the death of her husband. Mrs. Luchsinger was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was also a member of Ladies Aid and Kensington Circle. The family suggests that memorials be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Memorial Fund or the donor's choice. Surviving are five children, Walter W., Frank J., Mrs. Alvin M. (Marguerite) Meyer, Mrs. Floyd (Katherine) Croisant and Lucille Luchsinger, all of Columbus; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, on Nov. 5, 1918; her parents; and three brothers, John, Fred and Henry.
