The organization of Zion Lutheran Church occurred on September 29, 1878. Several men, including Moritz Israel and his two sons, Julius and Gustav, adopted and signed a constitution. Kossuth Gustave "K.G." Israel was the youngest of six children born to F.M. and Rose Israel. His five siblings were all born in Germany before the family emigrated to America in 1868. K.G. was born in Illinois in 1873. Five years later, the Israel family was living in Wheatland Township in northeastern Ford County. While the other siblings left Ford County, K.G., remained in Ford County and continued farming. He married Rosa Christina Krumrey, in 1893. They were the parents of seven children. After giving birth to twin sons, Rosa passed away on February 23, 1911. She is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Ford County. K.G. was left alone to raise the six children. In 1929, he married Susie Stinson, who had three younger children herself. Janette was born in 1933. Tragedy struck on August 12, 1942, when K.G. started turning the crank on his tractor, which was in gear. It ran over him and killed him. He joins Rosa in Evergreen Cemetery. F.M. and Rosa lived on the original homestead until Rosa died in 1900. F.M. died nine years later. They share the same stone in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. The rest of the story: Susan died in 1984. Janette grew up in the area, married Douglas Marcy, and passed away in 2014. She joins her mom in Evergreen Cemetery.
