Jewel Ann Schaefer, age 73 of San Antonio, TX passed away on June 7th at 12:15 p.m. She was born on February 3, 1944 to JD and Ann Bowman in Corpus Christi, TX. Jewel was named after both her father and mother. She spent her childhood as an active member of the pep squad and loved participating in many school productions. She continued her activities as an adult as a member of the Kenwood Senior Center and a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church. Jewel worked for Sears and retired from Gill Savings Co. She kept busy after her retirement working at Pets Smart and was an advocate for animals, as she loved dogs and cats. Her beloved dogs, Bell, Toto, Cowboy and Franny were all adopted shelter dogs and strays. She also volunteered her time working with disabled and underprivileged children. She had a huge heart and giving spirit and was always trying to be a positive impact in the lives of others. Jewel loved adventure, the outdoors and living life to the fullest. She spent many years at the family lake house riding horses and enjoying country living. She enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and trips to the beach with her son and granddaughters. Jewel also loved to be surrounded by family and friends. She hosted many parties and family gatherings at her house and you could feel the love and happiness she felt when she was able to cook and entertain the people she loved most in her home. She also enjoyed shopping with her niece, Michelle, having a good laugh with her nephew, Robert and going to lunch with her sister, Sandra. Jewel loved to laugh and had a joyous spirit. She was a strong and independent woman with a devout faith in God and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. Posted at: Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels-NE August 2017
