The Elwood Call-Leader, p. 1, Monday, July 13, 1931 MRS. ELIZABETH GROSS PASSES AWAY SUNDAY Mrs. Elizabeth Gross, 88, widow of William Butler Gross, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Evans, residing at 1621 South L street, Sunday morning about 7:30 o'clock, of infirmities of age and complications, after an illness of several months. She was the daughter of George and Elizabeth O'Banion and was born in Owen county, Indiana, April 6, 1843. She was united in marriage to William Butler Gross and to this happy union were born five children. Mrs. Gross had been a resident of Elwood since 1899 and was held in high esteem by her numerous friends. She was a good Christian woman, a devoted mother and wife. Mrs. Gross was a member of the First Baptist church. Her husband died thirty-seven years ago and she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. George Evans, at whose home she died; two sons, Luther Gross, cashier of the Citizens Bank and Trust Company, and Price Gross, of Gary, and one brother, Paschal O'Banion, of Elwood. There are seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. Robert W. Sage, and burial will be made in the city cemetery.
