Marvin Frank Dobecka, 76, of McKinney, Texas, died at his home on Monday, January 7, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lillian Dobecka; and his brother, Arnold Dobecka. Marvin was born in Mesquite, Texas April 30, 1942. He was raised in Grapevine, Texas, where he attended Grapevine schools. He also played saxophone in the school band in Grapevine, where he graduated in 1960. He worked as a carpenter for his father before being drafted by the Army in 1963, where he served as an MP for three years. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he enrolled in the Texas Department of Public Safety Training Academy. He graduated from the academy and was assigned to the Dallas Region as State Trooper and Motor Vehicle Inspections. He retired from the State of Texas DPS as Special State Trooper at the age of 62. Marvin liked playing solitaire on the computer, collecting coins and smoking his pipe. He was survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice Todd Dobecka; sons, David Dobecka and wife Regina of McKinney, Matthew Dobecka and wife Rachel, and granddaughters, Allyson Dobecka and Elizabeth Dobecka of Howe, Texas; sister, Marcella Dobecka Vance of Dallas; nieces, Lavonna Vasquez and husband Mario of Ennis, Texas, Cynthia Hablinski and husband Robert of Houston, Texas, Toni Akers and husband Michael of Temple, Texas; and nephew, Richard Dobecka and wife Liz of Garland, Texas. ∼ Notes: Cemetery plot and grave marker transcription allowed per auto SAC on 15 Jan 2019.
