Vada G. Carroll Thomson -- Vada G. Carroll, 98, of Thomson died Sunday, May 10, 1992 at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton. She was a representative for the Savanna Greenhouse and Lakeview Flowers in Savanna about 30 years. She worked as a clerk at the Royal Blue Food Store in Thomson and also as an inspector at the Savanna Army Depot. She was a member of York Baptist Church, Carroll County Republican Women, Royal Neighbors of America, Merton Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, in Fulton and York Progressive Home Extension Unit. Born April 25, 1894 in York Township, she was the daughter of Edward and Maude (Lambert) McGinty. She was educated in the Thomson and Savanna schools. She married John J. Carroll on Dec. 18, 1912 in Galena. He died in June 1962. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lois Hickey of Thomson, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; one nephew and five nieces. One brother preceded her in death. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Law-Jones Funeral Home in Thomson. The Rev. Kathryn Hutchins of York Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. There will be no visitation.
