Sarah H. Holmes was born 30 January 1842, per Thomas "Major" Holmes Day Book. She was the mother of two sons by William "Shotbag" Taylor, Thomas Lee and William David. She was the step-mother to William's first wife, Elizabeth Rogers Taylor (1816-c. 1865) children namely Margaret, Amos, Zachery, Nancy Ann, and Elizabeth Taylor.
