Bio

Mark Groves, age 63, joined God on December 31, 2018, after a lengthy illness. Mark was born on February 9, 1955, to Leon Groves and the late Marcella Marak Groves of Archer City. Services will be held at Aulds Funeral Home on Friday, January 4, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Archer City Cemetery. A visitation will take place on the preceding Thursday evening from 6-7 at the funeral home. Mark loved his life on Lake Kickapoo where he was a longtime resident. After years of boating and water sports and occasional traveling, he took comfort in simply enjoying the lake’s peaceful setting. Being a hard worker, he spent many hours in his shop on designs ranging from his dock to creating various welding projects. In addition to his independent spirit, his family played on his tender heart. He was fondly addressed as “Uncle Mark,” one always willing to make anything work and always eager about the latest news regarding his four nieces and nephews and their seven children. Mark is survived by his father and his wife Christine of Archer City; his sister Carol Campbell of Archer City; her children Cory Campbell and wife Julie of Plano, Texas, and Addyson and Connor; Magen Phillips and her spouse Ryan of Denton, Texas, and Carson and Harper; one brother Scott Groves and his wife Anne Karcher of Brentwood, California; sister Julie Humpert and her husband Steve of Windthorst; their children Aubrey Moer and husband Grant Moer of Windthorst, and Tylar and Andie; and Bryce Humpert and wife Katie, and newborn Diana. Serving as pallbearers are nephews Cory Campbell, Bryce Humpert, and Ryan Phillips; cousins Paul and Johnny Holub of Seymour, Texas; and lifelong dear friend David Goforth also of Lake Kickapoo. Charitable donations may be directed to Hospice of Wichita Falls 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310 or the Lake Kickapoo Volunteer Fire Department, C/O James Mellard, 169 Cliffside Road, Holliday, Texas 76366.
