GIRL VICTIM OF HIT-RUN DRIVER Miss Irene Framer Struck Down as She Alights From Street Car. Injuries received in an automobile accident were fatal to Miss Irene Frazier, 17, senior of Hume-Fogg High School, in a local hospital at 5:06 a.m. Thursday. A hit-run driver struck Miss Frazier and ran over her leaving her lying In the street at Eight Avenue South arid Olympic Street, shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday. Police Thursday were in a city-wide search for a green coupe which was said to have struck the girl, and whose driver cut off the lights and fled after the impact. No definite clues had been obtained Thursday morning. Officers reported. Miss Frazier, who was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Frazier, 1103 Cherry Avenue, was reported to have just slighted from a street car as the automobile approached, going north on Eighth Avenue. The girl was said to have waited in the street until the street car moved on and to have then attempted to reach the curb across the tracks. The automobile struck her down and passed over her body. Realizing apparently what had happened the driver accelerated the pace of the car and switched off the lights before the license number could be obtained, police said. The police ambulance was called and the girl was removed to the hospital by Driver Red Nannie and Guard Tom Hooper. She had suffered fractures of both legs and a fracture of the skull. Miss Frazier was to have graduated from Hume-Fogg High School at Christmas. She had attended the school for the past three years. Her family had removed to Nashville during her babyhood from Maury County. She is survived by her father and mother; a sister, Mrs. H.G. Karns, and a brother, Homer Frazier, both of Nashville; and a brother, Gordon Frasier, of Lansing, Mich. CLIPPED FROM Nashville Banner Nashville, Tennessee 26 Nov 1931, Thu • Page 11
