Charles Roger Maller, 85 March 24, 1933 ~ November 21, 2018 Charles Roger Maller was born March 24, 1933 to Charles B. and Genevieve (Booth) Maller in Callaway, Nebraska. In 1950, Charles graduated from Oakland High School in Oakland, Nebraska. He went to the University of Nebraska - Lincoln College of Pharmacy and graduated in 1954. He was in ROTC throughout his four years in college and was in the U.S. Air Force on active duty, stationed in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was a lifetime member of Tulare, California Amvets Post 56. Roger married the love of his life, Marjorie Sheets, June 24, 1956 in Callaway, Nebraska. They were blessed with three children. They lived in Alexandria until his honorable discharge. They moved to Oakland, Nebraska and went into business with his father. The new Corner Drug was built in 1957. He and Marge retired in 1995. Roger was always very active in the community. He was a charter member of the Oakland Art Club and has paintings and his painted eggs all over the U.S. His painted egg of a Nebraska farm scene was chosen to go to the White House. He was a charter member of the Oakland Community Players and was in many productions; he also painted all the sets. He was Past Master of Oakland Lodge 91, Past High Priest of Royal Arch Mason and Past President of the Oakland Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland where he had served on the Church Council and was a choir director while singing in the choir. He and Marge also sang in choir while in Tucson, Arizona. They loved to travel and took several cruises. Charles Roger Maller, 85 years, of Oakland, Nebraska, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at South Austin Medical Center in Austin, Texas. He and his wife Marge had planned to spend the winter months in Horseshoe Bay, near family. Visitation 4-7 pm Friday, November 30 at Pelan Funeral Home, 310 South Charde Avenue , Oakland, NE. Family will receive friends 5-7pm and a Masonic Service will begin at 7pm. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Saturday, December 1 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 North Davis Avenue , Oakland. Burial with Military Honors at Oakland Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; nephew; mother-in-law and father-in-law. Left to honor his memory are his wife; children: Nanci Lou (Michael) Pelc, Lisa Ann (Kent) Kubie, Dr. Steven Charles (Cince) Maller; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Ashley) Pelc, Sarah Pelc, Leah (Ivan) Thomas, Trevor and Christian (Amanda) Kubie, Sam and Ethan Maller; five great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Gracen, Ava and Ezra Pelc, Eva Marie Thomas; his sister, Donna. His main love was his wife, Marge and his family. He will be greatly missed.
