Daily Advocate, Baton Rouge, La, Oct. 18, 1899, Page 4 "FUNERAL OF MAJOR O'CONNOR. The funeral of Major O'Connor, who was killed by his negro cook in a levee camp near St. Joseph, La., occurred yesterday. He was buried in accordance with the rites of the Catholic church, Rev. Father Malone officiating. The remains were followed to the cemetery by a large concourse of sorrowing persons. The deceased was well and favorably known in this community. He possessed many good traits of character. His leading one was that of his devotion to his mother - a noble and grand one, indeed. The Advocate extends its heartfelt sympathy to the grief stricken relatives. May he rest in peace."
