Mrs. Geneva Ann Rice Ratterree, 90, of Star City, passed away April 19, 2011 at Lincoln Heights Healthcare. She was born May 14, 1920 at Kedron (Cleveland County), the middle child of Joseph Thomas and Winnie Pearl Hobson Harper. She received her education at Watson Chapel Schools. She and her first husband owned and operated the City Service Station, Citgo Service Station and the Gulf Service Station before retiring in 1974. She also worked for Byrd Mfg. at Star City in the pressing department. She was a member of Holly Springs Missionary Baptist Church in the Little Garnett Community. She was a member of Friendship Circle Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Eugene Rice, to whom she married September 28, 1940; Curtis L. Ratterree, her second husband; parents, Joe and Pearl Harper; three brothers, Thomas Hill Harper, William Wesley Harper and Ernest Edward Harper; three sisters, Winnie Hazel Harper, Lillie Jo Easterling and Marjorie Pearl Peterson; grandson, Cameron Mitchell Harrison; daughter-in-law, Marie Rice and two son-in-laws, Bud Gillespie and John Lee. Survivors include three sons, Thomas Edwin Rice, Donald Wayne Rice and William Eugene Rice, all of Star City; five daughters, Bobbie Jean Lee, Willene (Von) Morris, Mary Ann (Doug) Patrick and Wanda Joyce (Jr) Burr, all of Star City, and Ellene Rice of Rockford, IL; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM Thursday at Griffin Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jackie Richardson and Bro. J.C. Patterson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Butler/Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holly Springs Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, C/O Billy Jack Curry, 304 E.
