Bio
Ernest R. Bydalek, 92, of Grand Island, NE, died Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Scott M. Harter will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Curran Funeral Chapel is serving the family. Ernie was born, March 21, 1926, at Ashton, NE. He was the son of Sylvester and Agnes (Maciejewski) Bydalek. Survivors of his immediate family include his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Deb Bydalek of Hastings, NE Three daughters and two sons-in-law, Chris and Doug Obermiller of Loup City, NE Deb and Ken Bonczynski of Kearney, NE Cindy McCarville of Grand Island, NE and Dan Emery 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren Ernie grew up south of Ashton, NE where he attended country school. He married Leona Heil on June 2, 1942, in Loup City, NE. They lived in Grand Island for several years before returning to Sherman County to farm. Mr. Bydalek retired in 1981 and the couple moved back to Grand Island. Leona die March 30, 2010. Ernie enjoyed wood working, fishing, and playing cards. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Leona, and an infant brother Arnold.
