Bio

***************************** Sarah was among the women that the Union Army captured in Westport when they held the women and children, tried them for aiding the Confederate troops, burned their homes and sent them to Gratiot Street Prison in Saint Louis. On January 1, 1867 Sarah married David Ewing Boone in Kaw Township, Jackson County, Missouri. They were the parents of ten children: James William, Edward Harris, Elizabeth Lydia, David Ewing Jr., Daniel, John Floyd, Isaac Morgan, Hurshel Lenzsey, Marshall Leroy, and Robert Lewis. ************************** Here be our women: http://www.civilwarstlouis.com/Gratiot/Listwomen.htm ************************** 2018: Thanks to the very close DNA matches between many of these David Boone/Sarah Taylor descendants to Mary Lee Vaughn / Sylvester Riner descendants, and other research, we have been able to determine that Mary Lee was undoubtedly the daughter of Rachel Taylor - this Sarah Taylor's sister. Rachel was also among the women arrested too, and her daughter Mary Lee was documented as the love child of the notorious Daniel Vaughn of Quantrill Raider fame. Mary Lee Vaughn was raised by these girls' mother Lydia Taylor, as Rachel apparently died in childbirth or soon after. My thanks to all of the descendants on both my great-great grandfather Thomas John Taylor's older sister Sarah Boone's side, and his young brother-in-law Sylvester Riner who married Mary Lee Vaughn's side, for sharing their (once thought to be unrelated) DNA matches to prove out this theory I had been working on for decades. *by Lila Cole
