Jeanette "Janet" (Brazil) Motl of Albuquerque, New Mexico, sadly passed away on October 10, 2018, after sudden illness. She was born March 31, 1936 in Lubbock, Texas, to Elva (Conkin) and William Jefferson Brazil. Janet was raised on the farm south on Anton, Texas; and after graduating from Anton High, in February 1954, she married Richard D Motl. The family moved to Clovis, NM, in 1965 where Janet lived for approximately 25 years, continued to farm, and also began her career as an artist. Janet moved back to Lubbock for several years and then moved to Albuquerque, NM, in 1996. She was a gifted self-taught artist who specialized in oil and acrylic paintings and participated in the Rio Grande Art League for many years. She also enjoyed working with stained glass and caring for her flower and rose gardens. Janet had a keen sense of humor, embracing joy and beauty, and a quiet grace that was enjoyed by all. Janet was preceded in death by her sister, Patsy June James, of Plainview, TX; brother, Don Brazil, of Anton, TX; and former husband, Richard Motl, of Clovis, NM. She is survived by: her daughter, Merva Motl; son, Blake Motl, of Albuquerque, NM; and many nephews and nieces, who will miss her dearly.
