NORTH LOUP — Emil J. Hrebec, 81, of North Loup passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at the Brookfield Park in St. Paul. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Ord Memorial Chapel in Ord with Pastor Bonnie Brock officiating. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Emil James was born Jan. 13, 1937, at Ord to James and Elma (Skolil) Hrebec. He was raised in Valley County around Ord and North Loup, graduating from North Loup High School in 1954. He then graduated from the Grand Island School of Business in 1956. After Emil graduated from business college he enlisted in the Nebraska National Guard and served for seven years. He was then employed by the North Loup Valley Bank in 1956. He began as a cashier and purchased the bank in 1981. He was bank president until he retired in 2015. He was also very involved with farming. Emil was a member of the Western Fraternal lodge ZCBJ; was very active on the North Loup Popcorn Days committee; the North Loup Lions Club; North Loup Volunteer Fire Department; Ord and Broken Bow Elks Lodges; Pheasants Forever; and the North Loup Methodist Church. Emil enjoyed playing cards; hunting; fishing; listening and dancing to polka music; family get-togethers and especially time with his nieces and nephews. Survivors include his twin sisters and a brother-in-law, Marie and Wilbert Potter of St. Paul and Marjorie Buresh of North Bend; and many nieces and nephews. Emil was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Vaslav and Anna Hrebec and Emil and Ida Skolil; a niece, Rita Marie Kell; and several aunts and uncles.
