Dorothy Hope Bassler, formerly of Merizo, was called to eternal rest on Sept. 17, 2018 at the age of 66 years. Dorothy moved to Sutherlin, Oregon seven years ago from Merlzo, Guam, where she had lived for 25 years. She was born on February 2, 1952, to John and Eleanor MacMillian in Long Beach, California. Dorothy attended Lakewood High School graduating in 1970. Dorothy Hope Bassler was employed previously as the food and beverage manager at the Cocos Island Resort out of Merizo, Guam. Dorothy loved tropical birds and owned over 150 birds for 10 years. She also enjoyed traveling and circled the globe twice overland. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Paul; their son, Joshua and his wife Melissa; their daughter Myia Perez and her husband Joe; and their daughter Remolia Perez. She is also survived by her older brother John MacMillian; and younger sister, Carol MacMillan. Preceding Dorothy in death is her mother Eleanor; and brothers, Jim and Ron MacMillan.
