Thelma Fay McKenzie went home to her Lord on August 29, 2011 in Memphis, TN. Thelma and her twin sister, Melba were born on April 23, 1935 in the Sand Flat Community, TX. They were baptized in 1950, and moved to Abilene that year where they graduated from Abilene High School in 1953. Thelma attended Abilene Christian University, where she obtained her Degree in Education in 1957. She taught in Amarillo for three years, before moving back to Abilene in 1960. She taught Biology at Cooper High School for 20 years, before she retired. Always on the go, Thelma became a Mary Kay Director. She also served on the Board of Christian Homes of Abilene for many years and was a member of the Oldham Land Church of Christ. Thelma is survived by her sister, Melba (R.D.) White of Abilene; her brothers: James (Alma) McKenzie of Amarillo and Larry McKenzie of Memphis, TN and by 10 nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends. A Memorial Service will also be held in Abilene, TX on Saturday, September 10, 11 AM at the Oldham Lane Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christian Homes of Abilene or OldhamLane Church of Christ Mission Fund in memory of Thelma. Published in Abilene Reporter-News on September 7, 2011
