Campaign American Revolution Pension Statements Pension Application of William Robison (Robinson) W18821 State of North Carolina, Buncombe County, Court of Pleas and Quarter Session, October Term 1832. On the 18th day of October personally appeared in open court before the justice of the Court of Please and quarter session: Buncombe County State of North Carolina now sitting William Robinson a resident of said county and states his age 72 years who being first duly sworn according to the law doth on his oath make the following Declaration in Order to obtain the Benefit of the act of Congress passed June 7th 1832. To wit that he was born on the 25th day of January 1760 in the state of Pennsylvania York County that he has no record of his age only from what his parents told him. His parents removed from that state to Macklenburg County in the state of No Carolina when he was 4 years old. He volunteered when 17 years old in this County Macklenburg (not being on the muster list under Capt. John Mcnite Alexander. He thinks Adam Alexander was his Col. Gen. Rutherford was the Commanding Gen. He volunteered for 3 months and marched the Indian ____. He served his three months and got his discharge which he has lost. He went an other 3 months tour as a substitute for his older brothers place Alexander he was drafted by Capt. Givens. He can't recollect the Col. Gen Ruthorfords was the commanding Gen. He marched to Charan and there met with Col. Gates army. Col Gates marched to Rudisells mill twelve miles from Camden at which place he remained some days General Gates moved his army in the night and when proceeded about 4 mile met the British and the soldiers lay on their arm all night in the morning the Battle commenced. Gates got defeated. He returned home next day and in a few days was called back to McCoppins Creek and then stationed Col. Davidson taking the command at McCoppins Creek. He remained until his time expired and received a discharge from Capt. Givens which he as also lost. He inlisted under Capt. William Hutchinson for 10 months and marched under Col. Polk to Browns old fields near Columbia So Carr. He joined here Col. Sampson army. He was under Sumpter at Orangeburg Battle. Munle Conner battle and the side of Charleston had another battle. He then returned to Browns old field ___ ___. Gen.. Sumpter then went to the Eataw Springs he went to the 4 hold bridge and then to M.Cods ferry on Conga__ River and hare he received his discharge after serving the 10 month from Capt. Marlin. He lived someting in Macklenburg County and removed to Buncombe County and has lived here 28 years in this County and now resides here. I hereby relinquish every claim whatsoever to a pension or annuity ___ the present and declare that my name is not on the Pension roll of the agency for any state.
