Arnold Paul Safarik, 70, of Taylor Texas, retired farmer, died Saturday, September 22, 2018, at SPJST Care Center, after a five year battle with a glioblastoma brain tumor. “Arnie”, as he was known, was born February 21, 1948, to Arnold Safarik Sr. and Gertrude Skrhak Safarik. After graduating from Southwestern University in Georgetown, he became a history teacher at J.L. Williams Junior High in Copperas Cove, Texas where during his eleven-year tenure, he was selected teacher of the year. He was active in the Jaycees during his teaching career. After his father’s death in 1982, he returned to Taylor to begin farming with his brother, Larry. During his 30 years of his farming, he and Larry were selected Master Farmers of the year. Arnie was preceded in death by his parents and his dachshund, Tater Tot. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Paula; daughters Ashley Louder (Bradley) of Jarrell, Texas; Amber Brockenbush (Jason) of Spring, Texas; brother, Larry Safarik (Katy) of Taylor, Texas; sister-in-law, Kay Rice (Britt) of College Station, Texas; sister-in-law, Pam Fuller (Mike) of New Braunfels, Texas; granddaughter, McKinley Louder; Baby Louder and Baby Brockenbush due next year; and an aunt, five nephews and one niece, many cousins and his dachshunds , Scooter and Toby. A Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor, TX on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. The Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 am at St Paul Lutheran Church. His body was cremated, and his ashes will be scattered across the Turkey Creek Farm. Special thanks to the staff of the SPJST Care Center of Taylor, Texas including Cory, Joanna, and Kim. Arnie will be missed for his humor and quick wit. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to make memorials to be given to Child Development Center of St. Paul Lutheran in Taylor, Texas and Taylor Animal Shelter of Taylor, Texas.
