Bio
Ambrose Delnor Kahnke, age 85 of Courtland died peacefully on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. A private family committal service will happen at a later date at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls where full military honors will be provided. The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home of New Ulm has been entrusted with the arrangements. Ambrose is survived by his wife over 50 years, Jean Kahnke of Courtland; 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Clara Dolan of Minnetonka. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jonathan Kahnke; his sisters, Rita, Florence, Bernadine, and Rose; and his brothers, Leo, Anton, and Carl. Ambrose Delnor Kahnke was born July 11, 1933 in Delhi, Minnesota to Ambrose and Clara (Mertans) Kahnke. He was a 1951 graduate from Redwood Falls High School. Soon after graduation, Ambrose enlisted in the military where he served with the U.S. Navy, the Army National Guard, and the Air Guard before being honorably discharged from the military. On July 11, 1965, Ambrose was united in marriage to Jean Wegner in Redwood Falls. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. Blessed be his memory.
