Funeral Held Thursday For Alpine Native ~~~ Funeral services for Ernest L. Whitby, 59, native of Alpine, were held in the alpine ward chapel Thursday at 1 p.m., too late for this issue of the paper. Mr. Whitby died Sunday in a Las Vegas hospital of pneumonia. The son of Thomas Barratt and Emma Freestone Whitby, he was born in Alpine, Jan. 28, 1947. He married Jennie Adams, Overton, Nev., and since has been a rancher and stockraiser in Overton. Besides his widow, survivors include three children, Miss Louise Whitby, a teacher in the Logan schools, Arthur and Boys Whitby, students at the USAC; and the following brothers and sisters, Alvin Whitby, john A. Whitby, Mrs. J. William (Minnie) Healey, Alpine; Mrs. George (Clara) Stevens, Woods Cross; and Oscar A. Whitby, Logan. Services were also conducted on Overton Tuesday, Dec. 31. Interment was in the Alpine cemetery. Published in the American Fork Citizen on January 3, 1947
