Bio

Rites will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, from St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Waubun for Lucille G. Jasken. Mrs. Jasken, 84, the widow of Ambrose Jasken, died at St. Mary’s Regional Health Center in Detroit Lakes on Sunday, March 19. Fr. Ron Meyer, O. M. I., will officiate at the funeral, Kristin Jasken will be the organist and special music will be by Edie and John Mattson. Interment will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery, with the Mattson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Serving as the pallbearers will be Jerome Flottemesch, Richard Flottemesch, Gary Jasken, Richard Jasken, Gerald Kunz and Martin Kunz. Lucille Kunz, daughter of Martin and Agnes Kahnke Kunz, was born at Callaway on June 27, 1915, graduated from Waubun High School (Class of 1933), earned an associate degree and intermediate rural degree at Moorhead State Teacher’s College in 1937 and taught in various rural districts in the Ogema area. On April 15, 1941, she and Ambrose Jasken were married at Callaway and lived on the Jasken family farm near Ogema. They farmed together until the mid - 1970’s, Lucille later helped her husband with honey preparation and processing and - in October, 1996 - the Jaskens moved into Waubun and lived with their daughter Barbara. While on the farm, Mrs. Jasken belonged to St. Benedict’s Catholic Church at White Earth and its Christian Mothers Society and she belonged to St. Ann’s Catholic Church after moving into Waubun. She also was a member of homemakers clubs in the White Earth and Ogema areas. Surviving are two daughters - Barbara Jasken, Waubun, and Eloise Jasken, Bloomington; three brothers - Desmond (Norma) Kunz, Ogema; Damian Kunz, Renton, Wash., and Richard (Lois) Kunz, Callaway, and a sister - Dolores Dorff, Detrot Lakes. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jasken also was preceded in death by her parents and a sister (Marie Flottemesch). Visitation: Wednesday, March 22, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., Mattson Funeral Chapel in Mahnomen and also one hour before funeral on Thursday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
