Vernita Braden Zalman, 95, of El Campo, passed away September 4, 2018. She was born on September 18, 1922 in Wharton County to the late Laurenz and Barbara Litzler Braden. Living in the Blue Creek Community, she was a homemaker and farmed and ranched with her husband. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished her title as “Great-Granny.” Vernita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Celestine Zalman; brothers, Arthur and Elvie Braden and sister, Leona Weishuhn. Visitation begins 4 p.m. Thursday, September 6 at Triska Funeral Home with a Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass begins 11 a.m. Friday, September 7 at St. Philip Catholic Church.
