Son of Louise Parks and Tom Jennings. Census records reflect that his mother is a widow by 1920. Greensboro News & Record (NC) - Saturday, January 11, 1992 ---------------------------------------- Funeral for Dr. Otho Jennings, 80, of 1712-C Centennial Ave., High Point, who died Thursday, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Christ Wesleyan Church. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park. A native of Marthaville, La., he was a graduate of God's Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio, earned a master's degree in art from LeHigh University, a master's in divinity and bachelor's degree in sacred theology from Temple University, a doctorate of education from Michigan State University, and an honorary doctorate of law and letters from Eastern Pilgrim College. During his career, he served as a professor at John Wesley College in Greensboro, was the co-founder of Wesley College in Florence, Miss., a former professor and academic dean at Eastern Pilgrim College in Allentown, Pa., a former professor at Southern Pilgrim College in Kernersville, a former president of Owosso College in Owosso, Mich., a former professor at Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky., and the retired chairman of the Department Social Sciences at Olivett Nazarene University. He was a former interim pastor for Christ Wesleyan Church, had preached at camp meetings and marriage-family life seminars, and was an ordained elder in the Wesleyan Denomination, North Carolina East District. He was a member of Kappa Delta Pi honorary society in education and of Phi Alpha Theta and was named Outstanding Educator of America in 1972. He was a former president of the Kankakee, Ill., Lions Club. Surviving are wife, Gatha Hamilton Jennings; daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Leonard of Hamptonville, Miss Judith Gayle Jennings of Ben Lomond, Calif.; son, Lyndon Otho Jennings of Rogers, Ark.; brother, William Samuel Jennings of Shongaloo, La.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild. The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Street Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. today, other times at 4205 Green Point Drive. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Wesleyan Church, Greensboro, N.C., or to Wesley College in Florence, Miss.
