The Columbus Telegram, April 15, 1980 LOVELL--Donald E. Lovell Donald E. Lovell, 57, of 597 9th Ave., Columbus died Tuesday at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. He had been ill for five days. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the McKown Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Lee Hicks will be presiding. Burial will be in the Columbus Cemetery, with military graveside rites. He will lie in state after 1 p.m. Thursday at the McKown Funeral Home. Lovell was born Christmas Day 1922 in Utica, Neb., to Charles and Floy (Arindale) Lovell. On June 4, 1949 he took as his wife Lorena Ann Gillespie in Schuyler. After his first wife's death in 1970, he married Darlene Drummond on April 14, 1976 in Schuyler. He had lived in Columbus all of his life. He was a canal foreman for the Loup Public Power District for 32 years. He served in the U.S. Army T-5 3850 Quarter Master Truck Co. in World War II. Lovell belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His survivors are his second wife, Darlene, three sons: Lee, Erin, and Owen, all of Columbus; a daughter Donna Drummond, of Columbus; five step sons: Melvin Jr., Mike, Randy, Eugene, and Kevin Drummond, all of Columbus; three step daughters: Linda Zywiec of Columbus; Brenda Drummond of Columbus and Pam Behrens of Havlock, N.C.; father Charles Lovell of Columbus, sisters Mrs. Leonard (Pauline) Decker and Mrs. Max (Betty) Johnson, both of Columbus; brothers Lyle of Dayton, Ohio, Clair of Denver, Colo., and Dale of Columbus and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, and first wife.
