Bio

Genevieve (GemBee) Dorothy (Polasek) Balzer left this earth to join the Lord and her loved ones on August 8, 2018 at the age of 92. She was born January 3, 1926 in Yoakum, Texas to the late John E. Polasek and Bertha Genevieve (Petrash) Polasek. She was the sixth of seven siblings. Genevieve attended St. Joseph School in Yoakum, graduating in 1942. She met Leslie William Balzer in Hallettsville in 1945 and they married in 1947. They resided in Yoakum for the rest of their lives and were members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She began working for TexTan Leather Company after graduation. She started in the factory, but quickly moved to the office as a payroll clerk. She was a dedicated homemaker for most of her adult life. She is survived by son, Dan (Judy) Balzer of Yoakum and daughter Diane (Rob) Glomb of Victoria; grandchildren, Grant (Andrea) Balzer of Maple Grove,, Minnesota, Neal (Joanna) Balzer Of Boerne, Tasha Balzer of Yoakum, Brandi (Buddy) Noack of Sealy, Melissa (Kevin) King of El campo, Lynette Albrecht of Laurel, Maryland and husband Major Jason Albrecht of Canberra, Australia and Scott (Shanda) Beyer of Victoria; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Zachary and Brandon King of El Campo, Cecily, Arden and Royce Balzer of Boerne, Seth and Sydnie Beyer of Victoria, Clara Balzer of Maple Grove, Minnesota and Kanin Noack of Sealy. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie W. Balzer; sisters, Louise Polasek Klekar, Annie Polasek West, and Mary Polasek Ward; brothers, August Polasek, Johnny Polasek and Richard Polasek; nephew Henry Klekar. Visitation 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home with Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Jacob Koether officiating. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Grant Balzer, Neal Balzer, Buddy Noack, Scott Beyer, Kevin King and Mike Balzer.
