Bio
Joe Bob Underwood, 69, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018, in Bardwell, Texas. Joe Bob was born in Waxahachie, Texas, to Robert E. and Bettie Joe (Hargus) Underwood. He grew up in Bardwell and graduated from Ennis High School in 1967. On January 25, 1980, he married Linda Gail Peugh and they made their home in Bardwell. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. He served the citizens of Ellis County for many years as a Deputy for the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office and worked for Cedar Valley College Police Department. He was a member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge of Bardwell. He enjoyed fishing and was quite a history buff. He also enjoyed working with cattle and farming. His family was the joy of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Underwood; son, Scott Hankins; brothers, Jim Edd Underwood and Mark Underwood; and step-father, J. T. Austin. Survivors include his son, Shawn McNeely; daughters: Brooke Grmela, Charice Hankins, and Lisa Hobbs; grandchildren: Eve Forner, Emily Forner, Ella Forner, Elizabeth Forner, Samuel Forner, Derick Pena, Garrett Hobbs and Alyssa McNeely; great-grandchildren: Tori , Easton, Tessa, Grace, and Henry; many other extended family and friends.
