Esther Ruth McKenny Esther Ruth McKenny, 94, of Aberdeen, SD, died Friday, January 30, 2004, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor, Aberdeen. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 5, 2004, at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 South Main St., Aberdeen, with Rev. John Baskins officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Funeral home visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a public prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Esther Ruth Kinzler was born on August 11, 1909, in Fredonia, ND, to Christ and Mary (Buerkley) Kinzler. This is the area where she grew up and attended school. She married Jacob Schlecht on August 29, 1928. They farmed near Fredonia, ND, for a number of years prior to moving to Aberdeen in the early 40?s. They had three sons and two daughters. They were divorced in 1947. She married Michael McKenny on September 19, 1959. Mr. McKenny died in February of 1969. Esther was employed as a waitress and hostess at the Harbor Café, Elks Lodge and Alonzo Ward restaurants. She is survived by five children, Norbert (Belle) Schlecht, Bedford, NH; Marilyn (Carl) Harbuck, Bullhead City, AZ; Arle (Norma) Schlecht, Hutchinson, MN; Dorothy (Richard) Nelson, Lovell, WY; Larry (Jeanne) Schlecht, Omaha, NE; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Mae (Kinzler) Wendland, Union City, CA, and Martha (Kinzler) Dahl, Lodi, CA; two sister-in-laws, Mrs. Andrew (Martha) Kinzler and Mrs. Walter (Alma) Kinzler. She was preceded in death by her parents, Christ Kinzler and Mary (Buerkley) Kinzler; brothers, Andrew, Conrad and Walter Kinzler; sister, Alice (Kinzler) Schweitzer. Casket bearers will be Esther?s grandchildren, Mark Schlecht, Michael Schlecht, Stuart Nelson, David Nelson, Stanley Harbuck, Kevin Harbuck and Lane Schlecht.
