Bertha was born on August 26, 1913 and passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2007. Bertha Price was the daughter of Rion Monroe Price Sr. and Martha Amanda Caton. Bertha was married first to Olean Merrill Northcutt and 2nd marriage to Alva Langham. Bertha was the granddaughter of Mardice Lafayette Price and Falby Price. (The Independent Wednesday, December 6, 1989) Rosinton's community columnist Bertha Langham, 76, has written for The Independent since it started publication in 1975, for "The Onlooker since about 1978 and for The Baldwin Times for so long till I don't know." Her school principal asked her if she would write for the newspaper and she said she would if someone from the paper asked her to. "He got on the phone and they asked me," she says. Mrs. Langham has lived in Baldwin County all her life. She was born near Bay Minette. She graduated from Robertsdale High School, which was in the building where the Robertsdale City Hall is now. She moved to Rosinton in 1929. She has two sons, now grown, Max and Lloyd Northcutt who still live in Rosinton. Her first husband had a small farm and was a carpenter. After his death, she remarried. her present husband retired from Woodhaven in 1978. She worked at the Rosinton School cafeteria from 1954 to 1974 and was the manager. Most of the students she used to serve are now adults, but she still sees many of them. "It's Miss Bertha everywhere I go," she says. She is also widely known because of her work for the paper. "I am always asked if I'm the one who writes the Rosinton column. I have a lot of people who live off and say that's the only way thety have to keep in touch with the people of Rosinton." In her spar time, Langham likes to crochet and produce patch-work quilts. She also enjoys reading mysteries and the Bible. Her columns always end with a Bible scripture. *************************************** Press-Register (Mobile, AL) - Wednesday, February 7, 2007 Bertha Northcutt Langham, 93, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007. She was a native of Baldwin County and a resident of Robertsdale. Langham was a member of the Robertsdale United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Max Northcutt of Loxley and Lloyd Northcutt of Robertsdale; a sister, Sally Gunn of Mobile; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Mack Funeral Home Chapel in Robertsdale with the Rev. Roy Nunn officiating. Burial will be in Rosinton United Methodist Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Robertsdale United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 866, Robertsdale, AL 36567. Arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home.
