Bio

Carol (Horne) Roberts peacefully passed away in her Logan, Utah home, while surrounded by family, on Thursday, 28 June 2018. Carol was born on Saturday, 18 November 1933, in Richfield, Utah, to Joseph William "Bill" and Mildred Lucinda (Foy) Horne. Following graduation from Richfield High School, Carol began working as a telephone operator. She worked up the ranks and later became a supervisor and service representative at Mountain Bell before she retired with twenty-five years service. A few years later, she began a new adventure, working with children as a physical education specialist at Lincoln Elementary in Hyrum, Utah, which she did for ten years. Her #1 priority in P.E. was sportsmanship and Carol instilled this and the importance of being physically fit in her students, as she encouraged them to prepare for and enjoy the Wellsville Mile. Carol loved sports! She was a loyal Aggie's fan, loved traveling and attending their games, and serving on the USU Alumni Association. She also loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Carol's favorite time of the year was Christmas when all the kids and grandkids slept on the floor in anticipation of Santa's arrival. Carol loved to travel cross country in their motorhome. She and Richard made friends wherever they went. Carol also loved to play cards with the ladies, eat food, win prizes, and talk about their husbands. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Carol had served in various positions. She served an LDS mission with her husband in Burma (Myanmar), as ambassadors of the Church. There, the two of them organized an international K-8 school and taught its patrons to speak English. A beloved wife, caring mother and fun grandma, Carol leaves us with wonderful memories that we'll cherish forever! Friends and family called from 6 to 8 P.M., on Monday, 2 July 2018 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan and from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M., on Tuesday, 3 July in the Hyrum North Stake Center, 245 Apple Drive, where funeral services began at Noon, followed by interment in the Hyrum City Cemetery. The family thanks Heidi and Nathan Christensen and Lareen Zollinger, along with her Hospice, for their loving care and attention during our most difficult times. Thanks, too, for the countless visits from friends who cared and loved our mom, unconditionally.
