William Eugene "Bill" Bowen, 80, of Martinsville, passed away April 22, 2007 at Bloomington Hospital. The son of the late Neil Bowen and Ruby (Goem) Bowen, he was born January 29, 1927 in Columbus, IN. Bill married Marilyn Louise (Quade) Bowen of Martinsville, Indiana on May 18, 1947. Bill and Marilyn had resided in Martinsville for the past 5 years after moving from Bloomington. Bill was a graduate of Brownstown High School. He served with the US Navy during WWII from January 27, 1945 to July 17, 1946. He retired after 20 years from Continental Baking Company as supervisor from 1947 -1977 and then worked at Wetterau Foods from 1977-1992. Bill was a past member of the Bloomington American Legion and Elks Lodge. He enjoyed playing golf, gardening and gambling. Survivors include five sons, Bill (Cheri) Bowen of Bloomington; Richard Bowen of San Francisco, CA; Tim (JoAnne) Bowen of Ellettsville, IN; Greg (Mindy) Bowen of Lenexa, KS; Bruce (Mary Ann) Bowen of Martinsville, IN; four grandchildren, Michelle Bunton, Travis, Josh & Cody Bowen; and a step-granddaughter, Ashley Carter and a brother, Fritz Bowen of Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Devin Bowen; a brother, Edgar Bowen and a sister, Patricia Wooten. Services were entrusted to Neal and Summers Mortuary of Martinsville, Indiana.
