Born John Korus. According to his death certificate he was a cook at St. Stanislaus parish, residence 3649 East 65 St. in Cleveland, born at Pogorska Wala, Galicia, died September 26, 1935 at St. Alexis Hospital and was buried October 1 in Calvary Cemetery. ________________ The Columbus Daily Telegram (Columbus, Nebr.), October 5, 1935, p. 2, col. 6 Word was received here last Thursday by relatives that Brother Masaeus Korus, who was at the St. Stanislaus monastery in Cleveland, O., for many years, passed away at a hospital there early Thursday morning. He died following a lingering illness of four or five years' duration. Brother Masaeus was born in Tarnov, Poland, in 1870, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Korus, pioneers of the Tarnov neighborhood. He came to Platte county from Poland with his parents. He entered the Franciscan monastery as a brother in 1892. Funeral services were held in Cleveland Tuesday. Surviving are five brothers, Joseph of Lincoln, Carl of Columbus, Steve of Platte Center, Adam of Lindsay, and an adopted brother, Joseph of Tarnov, and two sisters Mrs. John Kuta of Columbus, and Mrs. John Stortz of Norfolk.
