Bio
Mrs. Elizabeth Weis passed away at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, August 23, 1936, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Mueller of Shickley, after a lingering illness of five weeks. Elizabeth Maertz was born at Holy Cross, Wis., in 1855, the daughter of pioneers, John and Mary Maertz (nee Driesdahl). Fifty-eight years ago she united in holy wedlock at Holy Cross, Wis., to John J. Weis, who preceded her in death December 17, 1926. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Weis came to occupy their homestead where Mrs. Weis spent all but the latter ten years of her life. She endured many hardships of the pioneers and lived a good Christian life. To this union seven children were born, three boys and four girls. Five preceded Mrs. Weis in death. She is survived by two children, Mrs. John Mueller, with whom she made her home,and Nick Weis of Grafton and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. John Weis; nine grandchildren and other relatives. After requiem mass with Rev. Monsignor P. J. Healy officiating at St. Mary's Church at Turkey Creek at 9 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, the remains were laid to rest beside those of her husband and children in Turkey Creek Cemetery.
