Jeanette Steinhauer Lesikar, 89, died peacefully on December 14, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Janet. She was a long-time resident of Temple. Jeanette was born on August 5, 1924, in Manhattan, New York City, New York, to Louise Hopko Steinhauer and George Steinhauer. She was the fifth born in a family of nine children. During World War II she met Reuben B. Lesikar of Taylor, Texas. They were married on June 4, 1944, and moved to Texas in 1945. In 1947, they moved to Temple. Jeanette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was a past member of Christ Episcopal Church and the SPJST. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, she was able to bring happiness to friends, family, church, clubs, and nursing homes. She is most well known for her hospitality to all who knew her, especially her children. She is survived by her daughters, Janet McReynolds and Brenda Huber; her sons-in-law, Henry McReynolds and Paul Huber; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Ella Braziel; and a brother, Charlie Steinhauer. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Reuben B. Lesikar; a brother, Joseph Steinhauer, and a sister, Katherine Cotter, all formerly of Temple; a brother, George Steinhauer; and sisters, Bettie Gambino and Louise Pawley, of New York and Maryland. Jeanette's influence and the love she gave to her family and all that knew her will live on forever. A memorial service will be held at the First Lutheran Church, 1515 West Adams, Temple, Texas, on Saturday, December 21, at 2:00 p.m. (CONTRIBUTED BY HELEN DOLEZAL #49748278)
