Dolores L. Zavodny, 82 of David City, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Tabitha Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln. Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, July 6, St. Mary's School Gymnasium David City, Rev. Bernard Kimminau, celebrant.Committal was at St. Mary's Cemetery, David City. Memorials to the family for family for future designation. Dolores Louise (Belik) Zavodny was born on February 21, 1933 near Prague, Nebraska. She was the youngest of six children born to Frank A. and Mary (Kubr) Belik and lived in the Prague area while growing up. Dolores attended Prague schools and graduated from Prague High School with the class of 1951. On September 10, 1951 she was united in marriage to Willard E. Zavodny at St. John’s Catholic Church in Prague, Nebraska. To this union three children were born; Cynthia Kay, Curtis Dean and Cori Renae. Dolores and Willard lived in many places during their married life including Fairbanks, Alaska; Pueblo, Colo.; Cozad; and in 1971 they moved to David City, Nebraska. On September 10, 2001 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Dolores was a homemaker and for many years she and Willard loved to garden. They traveled with relatives and friends to California and Las Vegas on several occasions and their family trip to Washington D.C. was one they never forgot. Dilly, as she was known by many of her close friends, was always ready to play cards, eat out or go shopping. In her later years she enjoyed garage sales and having coffee and lunch with her David City friends. Dolores is survived by her daughter, Cindy and husband Dave Biehl of Hastings; son, Curt and wife Sue Zavodny of Grand Island,; and daughter, Cori and husband Mike Beattie of Malcolm. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Brad and wife Leslie Biehl of Omaha; Liz and husband Nate Farmer of Elkhorn; Ben and wife Katy Biehl of Syracuse, and Audra Zavodny of Hastings; and one step granddaughter, Emily Kaslon of Kearney, and special European granddaughters; Synne Berge of Oslo, Norway; Clara Allonge of Hamburg, Germany and Viktorie Zlamalova of Prague, Czech Republic. Dolores has four great grandchildren; Rocco and Lyla Biehl, Liam Farmer and Jameson Zavodny. Dolores is also survived by a sister, Frances Kastl and sisters-in law, Lillian Belik and Nadine Svoboda and many nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Willard in 2005; brothers and sister-in-law, Ernest and Rose Belik and Frank Belik; sisters and brothers-in-law, Irma and James Chmelka, Mary Ann and Lloyd Welniak, and brothers-in-law, Ted Kastl and Leonard Svoboda. The family is especially appreciative of the David City rescue squad for all their help over the years. Mother had a special place in her heart for the David City Senior Center and St. Mary’s Church in David City.
