Published by Tecumseh Herald on Thu, 04/26/2018 Linda Lee Champanois, age 71, of Brooklyn, formerly of New Port Richey, Fla. passed away April 18 under the care of Hospice of Lenawee with her family by her side. Linda was born August 26, 1946 in Ann Arbor, the daughter of Edward and Loretta (Crossley) Hammond. She graduated from Milan High School in 1964. She was married to her high school sweetheart John Doughty for 22 years before they divorced. Most of Linda’s career was spent with Ford Motor Company in Saline, Michigan where she retired in 1997. Linda married David E. Champanois on November 11, 1996, and he survives. Linda enjoyed the game of golf, once marking her skills as league champion, organizing weekly league play, participating in fundraising tournaments and foursomes whenever she had the opportunity, often contributing as the valued second shot. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting cherished friends from across the country. She especially enjoyed mowing the lawn and other landscaping projects. Linda was a member of the Eagles of Brooklyn, Onsted Moose Lodge, and longtime member and officer of Gulf Harbor Yacht Club in New Port Richey, FL. In addition to her mother, Loretta (Hammond) Laubaugh of Onsted, MI, she is survived by her siblings; and eleven grandchildren. Linda was preceded in death by her father and sister, Mary (Garland) Rice. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 at United Church of Christ, Clinton, Mich. Contributions in memory of Linda may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
