John Earl Dean, 84, a lifelong resident of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017. Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, Grand Prairie, Texas.. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at the funeral home.. Mr. Dean was born Sept. 21, 1932, in Grand Prairie to John Henry Dean and Pearl Hazel Brumley. Johnny graduated from Grand Prairie High School in May 1950 and was recognized as Best All Around Guy in his senior class. He served in the U.S. Air Force from Jan. 8, 1951, until Oct. 5, 1954. He married Mary Garrison in 1977. He had a career in carpentry, as a sheetrock specialist, and was proud of his sheet rocking for the Bank of America green outlined building in Dallas, Texas. He was a member of the Grand Prairie Gopher Booster Club and had a passion for football and baseball. He was a letterman for two years in both sports. He was preceded in death by his sons, John E. Dean Jr., Robert T. Dean; as well as: brothers, Don Dean, Jack Dean, Ruben Lynn Dean; sisters, Sarah Daniel and Wanda Marks. Survivors: He is survived by children, daughter, Dyanne and husband, Jim Baxter, son, Mike Dean, daughter, Donna and husband, Dwayne Kelso, and daughter, Deanna Knippa; grandchildren, Ben Basham, Gil Conde, Ashley Dean, Dustin Dean, Megan Dean, Cassie Dean, Aaron Williams, Kaylie Kelso, Averie Kelso, Daniel Dean, Dylan Dean and John Knippa.
