Daughter of Joseph K. and Milada (Zalman) Darilek. Married to Lowell Norman Didear on July 17, 1942 in Nueces County, Texas. - - - - - - - - Alice Darilek Didear, born on her family farm on March 13, 1922 in Shiner, Texas, was a proud first generation Czech-American. She passed away on June 21, 2017 with her family gathered around her. Alice was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church where she was very active in the Altar & Rosary Society. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for over 50 years. She and her husband, Lowell, were very active in the parish including many annual church barbecues, fundraising, and Boy Scout Troop 157. She ran a successful business that she and her husband started in 1952 until the age of 80. After retirement, she volunteered at the church rectory for many years. Alice was a devoted mother to her children as well as a mother figure to many nieces, nephews, and many fortunate people who were lucky to have her in their lives. She was known for her honest, non-judgmental character. She was accepting of all people. Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Lowell; parents; brothers and sisters; daughter, Betty, and niece, Robin. [Foster daughter: Betty Linton Schacherl ] She is survived by six children, a nephew, 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Special thanks to Dr. Bill Dennis and staff, Dr. Charles Schecter and nurse Carol, the caring medical staff at Doctors' Regional, and caregiver and friend Darlene Gonzalez. Visitation is scheduled on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Cage-Mills. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 26, 2017 at St. Pius Catholic Church with a Holy Rosary to be held that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at St. Pius Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament, St. Pius X Catholic School, or Boy Scouts of America South Texas Council.
