William "Bill" D. Ponec, 79, of David City, died Monday, April 9, 2007 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City. Bill was born Aug. 4, 1927 to Charles and Emma(Hostek)Ponec in Omaha. He married Elsie Svoboda on Aug. 5, 1948 at Assumption Church, Appleton and lived most of his life in Butler County. He was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus, a member of Catholic Workman and had the honor of being one of the first installed acolytes in the diocese of Lincoln. He served as a commentator, lector, and rosary leader for St. Mary's Church. His church and family were the two big things in his life. He also enjoyed fishing, polka music and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill is survived by his wife Elsie; Sons, Daughters, Two brothers, One sister, 5 Grandchildren and 2 Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law: Clark Mueller and sister-in-law: Margaret Ponec.
