Bio

Jane Stripling Young Gribble died at age 96 on January 19, 2008 in Nacogdoches, Texas. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2008, at the Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Dr. Allen Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Mrs. Gribble was born December 13, 1911 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Sam Stripling Sr. and Elizabeth Wright Stripling. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, Texas. She worked alongside Gladys Whitehead, Hazel Whitehead and Macra Walker in the children¹s department of the church for many years. She was a member of Cum Concilio for over 50 years. She was also active in the American Camellia Society and the Nacogdoches Horse Show. Jane spent several years at the Youth Shop and also at Striplings Drug, which was owned by her family. She had a great love for antiques. She is survived by daughter, Lynda Pool of Nacogdoches, Texas; son, John Young and wife Marianne of Nacogdoches, Texas; step-daughters, Gretchen Weilberg and husband Dick of Fredicksburg, Texas; Janie Gribble of Austin, Texas; sister, Dr. Elisabeth Crawford of Houston, Texas; granddaughters, Jane Ann Godsey and husband Randy of Nacogdoches, Texas; Lisabeth Yeager of Austin, Texas; Leanne Brenneman and husband Brad of Plano, Texas; grandson, Charles Young and wife Christine of Lubbock, Texas; great-grandchildren, Josh Godsey of Nacogdoches, Texas, John, Jessica and Annabelle Young of Nacodoches, Texas Abigail and Matthew Brenneman of Plano, Texas. She was preceded in death by husbands, Dr. C. C. Young in 1975, Risdon Gribble in 1984, her parents, step-mother, Josie Stripling, brothers, Sam Stripling Jr., Ben Stripling and Mack Stripling.
