The death certificate records the following: John Pinkney Kern died of a coronary occlusion in Marshall, Harrison County, TX on March 11, 1945. Pronouncement of death was made by a Justice of the Peace. Burial was in the Corinth Cemetery on March 12, 1945 under the direction of Rains and Talley Funeral Home of Marshall, TX. Listed parents were J. H. Kern (Henry Joshua Kern), birthplace Scotland and Julia Huff (Julia Isabella Hough), birthplace Texas. It is believed that John Pinkney Kern's first wife, Alice Beatrice Thomas Kern is also buried in Corinth Cemetery, although there is no headstone marking a grave for her.
