Bio
Harold Denver Holcombe “Cotton” to most that knew him, passed away March 10, 2018. Cotton was born on June 21, 1931 in Stanton, Texas, to parents Roy and Beulah Holcombe. He served in the Marine Corp as PFC in the 3rd Battalion 5th Marine regiment 1st Marine division during the Korean War. He had many hobbies that included fishing, gardening and spending time with Peanut his “mean dog”, but what brought him the most joy in life was the “mean boys” and “mean girls” as he lovingly called his grandchildren. Cotton was a very Special person in his family’s and friends’ lives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Gladys; daughter, Audrey Porras; brothers Norman Holcombe, Vernon Holcombe, and D.W. (Bozo) Holcombe; sisters, Marzell Earnest, and Letha Peck; and great grandson, Matthew Green. He is survived by his son, Marlyn Earnest; daughters, Carolyn Poston and Janice King; sister; Pat Simmons; best friend “Peanut”; Grandchildren, Melissa Poston, Curtis Davis, Mark King, Connie Poston, Jana Burgess, J.R. Porras, Keith Poston, Amber St. John, and Kyla Earnest; Great grandchildren, Eric Moore, Joseph Moore, Brandon Davis, Justin Stanley, Brody Davis, Ryan Poston, Kaitlyn Gustafson, Griffin King, Duncan King, Casey Porras, Mykala Gustafson, Austin Porras, Davis St. John, Drew St. John, and Karsyn St. John; great great grandchildren, Kamryn Moore, Ayric Moore, Eric Moore Jr., Braeden Davis, Jace Poston, and Cooper Davis; Cotton is also survived by many other family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. A grave side service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 2 pm Monahans Memorial Cemetery Pavilion 400 S Helen Ave Monahans, TX 79756. Serving the family as pallbearers will be: Casey, Austin, Duncan, Griffin, J.R., and Mark.
