OBIT- 19 January 1990 WATERTOWN DAILY TIMES, Watertown, Jefferson Co, Wisconsin Gerhardt Edward Schmitz, 80, of 10 Stimpson Street, Watertown, died Thursday afternoon, 18 January 1990, at Watertown Memorial hospital. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran church in Lebanon with the Rev Arthur Kentopp officiating. Burial will be in Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia. Schmitz was born 16 February 1909 in Lebanon, son of William and Della Schmitz. On 13 March 1938 he married the former Leona Christian at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon. A dairy farmer, Schmitz had also been employed at Seaman Andwell Company in Ixonia. He was a member of the 105th Cavalry in Watertown and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs Dale (Carol) Lenius of Watertown; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Ervin (Leona) Hesse of Watertown and Violet Wieting of Eagle River; three brothers, William of Eagle River, Rueben (Alice) of Watertown and Herbert (Lois) of Jefferson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianne Grudzinski; a son Harris; two sisters, Anita Johnson and Millie Teuteberg and three brothers, Clarence, Grover, and Arnold.
