Bio

Joe Kenneth Platt passed away on December 7, in San Marcos, TX at the age of 79. Joe Kenneth is survived by his wife, Joyce (Schuller) of Wimberley, TX; children, Lisa Green of Lubbock, Dianne and husband Travis Kilpatrick of Wimberley, and son Joe Jr. of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Danny Gene Webb (Hannah Coleman), Sean Green (Alyson), Delayne Leonard (Chris), and Colten Kilpatrick; and great-grandchildren Aiden, Whitleee, Camryn, Macy, and Oliver. He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Agatha and brother Eddie Ray. Joe Kenneth was born on September 25, 1938 in Baytown, TX. He attended Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown. He joined the U.S. Army in 1957 and served in the 82nd Airborne as a Paratrooper. After serving, he returned to Baytown, Tx where he began attending the University of Houston. During this time, he worked nights to provide for his family. After a stint operating Brown's Drive-In, he built and operated the Bay Reef Restaurant with his wife Joyce. He graduated from the University of Houston with a B.B.A. in Accounting 1967. He then worked as a comptroller at Sea Arama Marine World, but Joe was an entrepreneur at heart. He went on to run several businesses in Baytown before making his mark in land sales. He finished his working career as the owner and President of Texas Best Builders. After retiring, he and Joyce spent time each year in New Mexico, Montana and Wyoming with their beloved dog Rebel.
