Bio

Juanita Frances Elliott, formerly of Moberly, MO passed away peacefully at Circle of Life, Springdale Arkansas December 25th, 2022, at the age of 97. Juanita was born to Burley Griggs and Flossie (Wright) Griggs on November 20th, 1925, in Mexico, MO. She married the love of her life, John William Elliott, on November 12th, 1943. While in the Air Force they were stationed in many locations; their favorite being Alaska. After retiring from the military, they adopted and nurtured three daughters: Teresa Bowden of Lowell, AR, Connie Canaday of Huntsville, TX, & Gina Downing of St. Louis, MO. They also raised their granddaughter, Jessica Bagby McNitt of Rogers, AR. Juanita was a member of Carpenter Street Baptist Church and never missed a Sunday service. After spending 41 years in Moberly, she moved closer to her family in Rogers, AR. You could often find her leading an exercise class at Apple Blossom Retirement Village, where she was a 15-year resident and active volunteer. NanNaw, as known by most, will be remembered for her generous heart, incredible laugh, and strong beautiful spirit. As you drove down Carpenter Street, she was always on her porch lending a listening ear or giving advice to all, while offering a snack from her overly stocked fridge. She impacted so many women in such a significant way over her lifetime, lifting them up when they needed it most. This world was so blessed to have Juanita in it for 97 wonderful years. Juanita is survived by her daughters, 6 Grandchildren: Jessica Bagby McNitt, Jayme Ingui, Jennifer Gauntt, Bobby Ray Gauntt Jr, Annica Molchin, & Tayla Dragicevic, and 10 Great Grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings: Howard Griggs, Dorthey Richardson & Beatrice Durham Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at a visitation to be held Friday Dec. 30th, 2022, from 5- 6pm in the Cater Funeral Home chapel. A service honoring Juanita's life will follow at 6pm. Private committal prayers and burial; will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO at a later date.
