"John J. Machacek Rites Wednesday Funeral services for John J. Machacek, 82, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 1979 at St. John's Church in Weston with Rev. Paul York officiating. Machacek was born Aug. 29, 1897 and was a lifelong resident of Weston. He was a member of the Wahoo Council of the Knights of Columbus and was former manager of the Home Lumber Company of Weston for more than 50 years. He died Sunday in the Saunders County Community Hospital. Machacek married the former Mayme Ohnoutka who survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Adelia) Dolezal, Wahoo; son, Donald, Riverside Lakes, Waterloo; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Henry, Weston; three sisters, Mrs. James (Cyrilla) Kontos and Mrs. Carl (Anna) Jelinek, both of Wahoo; and Mrs. Emil (Antoniette) Bouc, Valparaiso. Music was by the church choir accompanied by organist Mrs. Leonard Polacek. Casket bearers were: Leo, Leroy and Theodore Ohnoutka, Carl Jelinek, Albert Bouc, and Robert Machacek. Interment was in the church cemetery at Weston with Svoboda Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Also surviving are a son-in-law, Henry Dolezal, Wahoo and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Machacek, Waterloo." - Wahoo Newspaper; September 27, 1979
